Micaela Williams

poet | essayist | social media marketing specialist

Hi there!

IMG_0014.jpg

As a writer myself, I understand the unique challenges creatives face when promoting their work online.

My journey into the literary world began with a love of creative writing that led to me majoring in English and Communication. While studying at the University of South Alabama,  I was the Editor-in-Chief of Oracle Fine Arts Review, a tutor for English 101 and 102 students, and an intern at Negative Capability Press. These experiences laid the foundation for my career, instilling in me a deep appreciation for storytelling and the power of effective communication.

After completing my undergraduate degree in Alabama, I moved to Maryland to pursue an MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Baltimore. While in school, I worked at several different marketing agencies as a social media specialist. At work, I enjoyed crafting creative promotional content and developing audience engagement strategies. After a few years of agency work, I decided to start my own business using what I learned to benefit my favorite people in the world—writers. I used myself as a case study, and sold my own self-published poetry chapbook, CUT THE LIGHTS, exclusively via social media marketing.

Currently, I'm the proud owner of a digital marketing business, Micaela Writes Poems LLC, where I provide tailored support to writers. Whether it's managing social media accounts, crafting engaging content, or offering strategic advice, I’m here to help both established and emerging writers to achieve their social media goals. Contact me if you are interested working together.

Bio

Praise for my poetry chapbook,
CUT THE LIGHTS

Micaela Walley leans all the way into the eye of grief, into the sweat of memory, into the ‘onyx and obsidian’ wing of the vulture as it hunts. These poems draw us close in a voice that is honest, full of breath and close to flesh.

ASHLEY M. JONES

Poet Laureate of the State of Alabama

With sardonic wit and a post-modern sense of reinvention, this collection resonates with wisdom, lyricism, and urgency. The poems reflect on history and personal ancestry while also staking a claim for the future.

CHARLOTTE PENCE

author of Code and Many Small Fires

Laying aside the bombast of knives, Walley’s poems work like scalpels. Each incision reveals an instant—the pills, the drugs, the anxieties of family rupture—and unlocks the instants of the past as they tread on the future.
